OH BABY

baby baby baby | shorts and longs | julie rybarczyk

I spent a few hours this weekend at a baby shower for a friend who is pregnant with her very first little peanut. A girl. Due in December.

What a sweet and magical time. And what a bunch of cool loot she walked away with. Especially the books. Oh, the books. Books to read to her baby at night, and in the morning, and at nap time. Books to read over and over until she has memorized every line forward and backward and can literally be basically asleep while still reading it out loud. Books that—

Wait.

Wasn’t it just yesterday that my baby girl was weeks away from entering this world?

How is it possible that I am looking at colleges with her these days instead of Peter Rabbit books???? What is happening?! Who decided this was okay?!

Attention, R-kids. (Actually, I should probably start calling them R-teens, but that’s another story.)

Family meeting in the living room. 9:00. Tonight. We will be snuggling up on the couch to read Guess How Much I Love You and One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.

And you will like it.

This is not over.
