falling leaves | shorts and longs | julie rybarczyk

The leaves.
The temperature.
My defenses.
My anxieties.
Some hopes.
Some tears.
The volume of those mean, lying voices that sometimes get loud.
And this season’s first bits of white stuff from the sky.

All fell at various points around here today.

A couple of those things eventually rose back up, then fell a bit more, then up, and repeat.

Like boot camp for hearts.

It was not an ordinary day.

But I’m thinking it’s probably all pretty normal for a season of transition. And I happen to know that shaky places like this can lead to stronger ones. Seriously, like boot camp.

Also nothing fell hard enough to drag anyone around here down with it.

Except maybe the snow flurries on October 25.

October 25!
