HEEL, GIRLS

Today has been a hard one. Trying not to stuff things when they rise, and wow are they rising today. So you’ll have to trust me when I say I’m tending to this pain in my stomach that wraps all the way around to my lower back like something is trying to squeeze the life out of me. I am. The waves come and go, and I am riding them, and each one ends and I’m still here.

But I’d love to talk about something else for a while, ok?

Good.

How about shoes?

Maniac for the both and | shorts and longs | julie rybarczykOK, so yesterday I got an email informing me that I’m “First to Know!” that I can preorder Brian Atwood’s tan Maniac pumps for only $575. Of course I have been waiting for that news for quite some time now, so I immediately clicked the link to figure out what the heck tan Maniac pumps are. Turns out they are the hottest thing. Everyone is wearing them (just not in tan yet).

Best of all, they have a six-inch heel and a hidden platform inside so it doesn’t feel like you’re wearing a 6-inch heel.

Here’s Victoria wearing them recently at the airport where it’s critical to be seen in heels:

(Um, excuse me but it looks like I actually wasn’t first to know – Victoria seems to have snagged the tan Maniacs before me somehow.)

So the question on my mind is: Do I just do it?

No, not the $600 shoes – let’s talk heels, people. Let’s just visualize what would happen if I showed up to the next girls’ night out in 6″ heels. I’d be, oh, somewhere around 6’5″ tall.

Personally I don’t like to tower over my girls – and I already come close to that. But when I was in high school, I do remember that I’d pull out the 2″ pumps for Sunday morning church anytime I wanted to feel just a little more powerful or a little extra in-control that day. Just sayin’.

And I could use a little of that feeling these days. Maybe I just go for it. Maybe we all do!

Hmmmm.
