Have I mentioned how proud I am of my girl—R-girl—who just finished her first season on the high school JV fast-pitch softball team?
She was the go-to girl at first base.
She had never played first base before this year—and she was just a freshman on a team of older girls—but she stepped up to the challenge and rarely (never?!) did a ball get past her.
Also, her throw has developed into a “bullet,” as I’ve heard it described more than once.
I just cannot begin to put into words how awesome I think this all is. Nor can I fully express how absolutely and certainly positive I am that my sweet and strong daughter did not get one single piece of this athletic prowess from her mother. Except perhaps the height. And the rides to/from/practices/games/etc.
I love it.
I love that this is all hers.
Hers and her dad’s, for he’s the one who has lovingly nurtured these talents in her.
And I get to watch.
You go, R-girl.
