FIRST FRUITS

Last week I shelled out a whopping $3.79 for two measly little zucchinis at the grocery store.

But today…

…I got a nice big juicy one, fresh from our very own garden.

And, from the looks of it, we will have plenty more. I don’t know if it’s all the rain or the hot, humid days or the general neglect I give to this thing, but our zucchini plant has been taking over the place. It had already overrun the basil, thyme, spinach, and tomatoes,

So…what did we do with our first harvest of the season?

First, I chopped it up and added it to tonight’s spaghetti sauce, then R-boy used it to illustrate a great play he made at the baseball game last night.

You gotta love a hard-working vegetable.
