AT THE LAKE

If you don’t live here, you might not realize that Minneapolis becomes a bit of a ghost town every weekend of the summer, when half the population heads to their lakeside getaways on  Minnesota’s 10,000 or so pieces of paradise.

But nothing compares to this week. This is the Superbowl of cabin going, when not only the cabin people but also all their friends, family, and resident mooches all head up to the lake, filling every extra cabin couch and corner with extra guests. Not to mention the campgrounds. Today is the kick-off of 4th of July week, when literally everyone but R-family and two other households in the city (you know who you are) head “up north” in one fashion or another.

Well folks, while you were all out there crawling along the two-lane roads with every other lovely cabiner, I was taking a leisurely one-mile bike ride down to my local hometown lake.

And wow was it worth the trip.

Did someone order that color palette just for me?

Crazy great.

P.S. Speaking of our 10,000 nature playgrounds, I’m loving this daily project. A lot. It should be done in about 27 years.
