If there’s one thing I learned on the big *Wild West Summer Trip* it’s that, despite the fairly consistent presence of Coca-Cola and Little League wherever we live in America, and even though we might all be laughing at the same Wednesday night sitcoms, the reality is: We are all so different.
Beautifully, strikingly, defiantly different.

Our lifestyles are different. Our clothes. Our cars. Our cares. Our perspectives. Our history. Our dreams. Our surroundings.
Speaking of surroundings. Out here in the Midwest, one can forget how much a landscape can vary. I live in a state that looks pretty much the same from top to bottom and side to side, with a few extra farms, bluffs, or lakes scattered here and there for good measure. Not so in Oregon and Idaho. No siree. You can pretty much drive an hour in any direction and be in an entirely different climate, elevation, and garden zone. Awesome.
Here is just a glimpse of some of the different, colliding worlds R-kids and I were lucky enough to enjoy these past couple of weeks.
As a good friend of mine often says, different does not mean better. Different means different.
Different is good.
