HERE AND NOW

orange lily | the both and | shorts and longs | julie rybarczykLast night R-boy and I went for a bike ride to the drug store and the movie store. Literally to pick up drugs and movies. I carried it all home in my purse.

Anyway.

On the way home, we rode past the corner where I spent 190ish crack-of-dawns last school year, huddled in the car with R-girl, waiting with frigid fingers and toes (and ankles, kidneys, ears, and knees…) for her bus to arrive.

As I biked by the houses that I had seen so often under four feet of snow, I smiled. Flowers. Grass. Leaves. People. Sprinklers. Squirrels. Life.

This is it, I realized. This is the day we wait for so patiently all year long.

This is the gorgeous summer evening we dream of so desperately whenever it isn’t around.

It’s here.

It’s here and now.

Can I get an amen?!
