COMPLETELY BOOKED

Am I the last person around to read The Hunger Games? No. But I might be the slowest. My neighbor devoured the entire series in about three days flat, and R-girl read them almost as fast. This past weekend, while R-kids were away with their dad, I finally found a few solid hours in which to properly get sucked into the suspense. But first I breezed through a couple interesting non-fictions.

What the heck? Where did this reading frenzy come from?! I’m the one who usually falls asleep in my books!

Well, if anything inspires some good old-fashioned reading it’s a good old-fashioned bookstore, and we stopped at two of the best on our big *Wild West Summer Trip*.

Check it out:

1. The World’s Largest New and Used Bookstore: Powell’s City of Books (Portland, Oregon)

I personally know at least three people who travel half a day or more just to visit this bookstore. Seriously. The building takes up an entire city block and is three stories high, every inch bursting with books, books, glorious books.

and then there’s…

2. The Oldest Bookstore in the Pacific Northwest: Klindt’s Booksellers (The Dalles, Oregon)

This little gem is 140 years young and packed with all the kinds of books I enjoy browsing most. Including plenty of sassy ones that left me giggling.

Here’s to finishing out the summer with your nose in a book. And possibly also in a real, live bookstore.

Love ya!
