Despite my love affair with some of the gowns on the red carpet last night—Halle! Hilary! Gwyneth!—I got a little distracted when I saw a certain actress at this year’s Ocsars.
This particular woman is a reminder to me of how much can change in a year.
Or in a single, fateful March day.
And of how much more there can be than meets the eye.
Dear Sandra:
It’s been a year, and look at
you. You are strong, and
brave, and beautiful, and
standing tall.
You deserve better. So, so, SO
much better. I hope you
know that. I think you do.
Keep taking good care of you,
and that sweet baby boy of
yours. I’m cheering for you—
because I like you. And,
because, in some small way, it
seems to me that if you can do
this, so can the rest of us.
Keep being who you are, and
where you are. Don’t rush it.
And keep finding life in the
moments that surround you. I
pray hope and healing, and
good things to come.
For you. And for every
woman who has been so
cruelly blindsided.
Here’s to playing an
easier and lighter role
in the year ahead.
P.S. Miss Sarah? She’s
worth every penny.
